Final Week Checklist
A structured final week ensures a smooth offboarding experience, supports academic requirements, and leaves interns with a positive, professional impression of your company.
Step 1: Conduct an Offboarding Conversation
Set aside time to reflect on the internship experience.
- Acknowledge the intern’s contributions
- Share constructive, forward-looking feedback
- Offer career guidance or next-step advice
This conversation provides closure and ends the internship on a supportive note.
Step 2: Complete the End-of-Program Evaluation
The final evaluation is mandatory.
It helps:
- Document intern performance
- Support academic credit requirements
- Inform future program improvements
Submit the evaluation through your Company Dashboard.
Step 3: Offer a Recommendation Letter (Optional)
A short written recommendation or endorsement can:
- Boost intern confidence
- Support future job or academic applications
Step 5: Finalize Project Handovers
Ensure continuity and clarity.
- Confirm all deliverables are complete
- Transfer files, documentation, and shared access
- Clarify ownership of ongoing work
Step 6: Share Next Steps
If appropriate, outline how the intern can:
- Stay connected on LinkedIn
- Keep in touch about future opportunities
- Access recommended resources or references
Step 7: Submit Any Pending Weekly Feedback
If any Weekly Feedback Loops (WFLs) remain outstanding, complete them during the final week.
This supports transparency for the intern and their university and allows the program to close properly.
