Internship Requirement (IR) vs. offer
You’ll encounter two key terms throughout your placement and hosting experience: Internship Requirement (IR) and Offer. Here’s what you need to know.
Key differences:
Internship Requirement (IR) | Offer |
Acts as a job description for the role | An invitation to join your team |
Basic outlines of tasks and projects | More specific outlines of the tasks, expectations, and the role of the intern based on the IR |
Created at the beginning of the hiring process | Sent after interview and final selection |
Used to filter and shortlist suitable candidates | Confirms your choice and invites the candidate to accept |
Q&As:
- Can you send multiple offers for one IR? Yes, you can send multiple offers if you need more than one intern for the same role. However, we limit the number to three interns per supervisor to ensure adequate support and avoid overburdening supervisors. If your company wishes to take on more interns, we recommend adding additional supervisors.
- Will the candidates be notified when you create an IR? No, candidates are not notified when you create an IR. They are only notified when they are shortlisted, interviewed, or when an offer is sent.
